Alex is adjusting to being in pre-k. It is quite an adjustment because he's always been a stay-at-home kid. Daycare kids have routines down by the time they enter preschool or kindergarten. He doesn't really have any routine except for bedtime. So, he's having a couple of difficult times, but we're dealing.
He did get in trouble one day for pushing. Now, that is not acceptable in our home, so he apologized to the teachers for being disobedient and promised to do better. And he did...until later that week. Apparently he was running around the classroom like a mad man. A little funny, sorta cute, but not okay. Any time they get in trouble and have to be told a couple of times to stop, they have to move their clips to yellow. It's a stoplight system. Everyone starts on green. If they misbehave (like I said above), they move it to yellow and have to be in Time Out for 5 minutes. If it progresses or is a more serious offense, they move their clips to red and have to be in Time Out for 10 minutes and get a note home to parents. Thankfully it hasn't gotten that far, but that made the second time that he had to move his clip to yellow. Uh-oh. Mr. People Pleaser is having a rough go of it at school. But he'll get better. (I hope.)
One very very cute thing that he just told me is that there is a very pretty girl in his class. Her name is Eliana (I think that's how she spells it. It's pronounced Ell-ee-ah-nuh.) He said she's prettier than any other girl. Oooh. Looks like Mr. Man may have a girlfriend in the making. I know his daddy will be proud. It made me smile when he told me that he thought she was very pretty. When I asked if she was his girlfriend, he kind of got shy and a little embarrassed. Very sweet.
